Maintenance Worker I

THE POSITION

The Maintenance Worker I is responsible for general maintenance of TNDC Facilities and Buildings. The Maintenance Worker I also provides custodial support when needed or applicable. This position is full-time (40 hours a week) and non-exempt.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Light plumbing repairs to water and sewage systems including replacement of fittings and clearing of stoppages
  2. Repair/replacement of glass, tile, locks, hinges and window coverings.
  3. Light electrical repairs to appliances, fixtures, switches and circuits.
  4. Light painting both interior and exterior surfaces.
  5. Sheetrock repairs.
  6. Submits completed work orders to Maintenance supervisor.
  7. Attend required TNDC meetings.
  8. Attend required TNDC team, training, safety, and staff meetings.
  9. Follow TNDC safety policies and procedures at all times.
  10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  11. Be on call and respond to emergencies as needed, including after hours.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1 year of residential maintenance or related building experience.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds and climb ladders.
  • General understanding and working application of plumbing, electrical and carpentry skills.
  • Ability to obtain High-rise Fire Safety Certificate within 6 months.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Knowledge of Cal/OSHA safety requirements.
  • Second language ability

SALARY
DOE ($11.50 to $13 per hour) plus excellent benefits
