Dated 4.5.2021

We're excited to announce that four TNDC affordable housing multi-family projects—180 Jones2550 Irving4200 Geary, and 681 Florida—were selected to be in the 2020-2023 cohort of the International Living Future Institute (ILFI) Affordable Housing Pilot program!

A testament to our Property Management and Housing Development staff's commitment to implementing healthy and sustainable practices in new and existing buildings, we're the first affordable housing developer in the U.S. to have this many projects selected at one time. This achievement also is largely due to our partnership with partners like Van Meter Williams Pollack LLP, Pyatok, Y.A. StudioMithun, Cahill Contractors, Nibbi Brothers General Contractors, and many others.

Meeting rigorous sustainability imperatives like ILFI's Living Building Challenge mean TNDC is living out its values. Building sustainable homes is one of the ways we center tenants' well-being and health while also considering TNDC's larger impact on the surrounding built and natural environment.

Our four projects are pursuing a range of certifications, including Zero Carbon, Materials Petal within the Living Building Challenge, and Core Green Building Certification. In particular, we have committed to creating healthier materials specifications and work collaboratively with ILFI and other organizations to do so.

We look forward to sharing more sustainable innovations over the next few years as these project progress and welcome future tenants to their new healthy homes!
