Families and Children Move into Casa Adelante – 681 Florida Street

Content

We build communities so that families and children have resources and support to thrive.  Casa Adelante—681 Florida is a key step in helping us build this reality by providing 130 affordable homes for people with low incomes in San Francisco, including families who were formerly unhoused. The project is a joint venture between TNDC and the Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA).

Located in the vibrant Mission community, Casa Adelante—681 Florida is a nine-story family-friendly building with all-around support, including diverse social services, ample outdoor courtyard spaces, and a rooftop urban agriculture program.  With onsite social workers and property management from TNDC and a part-time resource officer from MEDA, tenants have a built-in support network to help them adjust to their new home, feel welcome, and remain stably housed.

In addition to these services, amenities include secured bicycle parking, an onsite childcare unit, onsite laundry, and a large community room with a warming kitchen. The ground floor also includes 9,250 square feet of commercial space dedicated as a community-arts Production Distribution Repair (PDR) space in partnership with Cultura y Arte Nativa de las Americas (CANA), a nonprofit organization that organizes the annual Carnaval Festival and provides community, arts, and events programming to the building and surrounding community.

Notably, this project is all-electric with high sustainability goals.  This project will pursue a Platinum GreenPoint Rating, Fitwel certification, and is a part of the International Living Future Institute’s Living Building Challenge
