In 2014 TNDC became a part of Healthy Retail San Francisco,a program designed to convert corner stores into healthy retailers so that all San Franciscans would have the opportunity to purchase healthy food.
In doing so we were known the “Healthy Corner Store Coalition” and we played a small but important role in educating community members and corner store owners on how to cook and sell healthy food that was new to the stores. Over the years though our role has grown, our responsibilities have changed, and we are incredibly excited to announce that as of June 2022 TNDC has taken on the full implementation of the Healthy Retail San Francisco program.
This means that TNDC is now the lead organization in San Francisco’s effort to bring healthy food options into corner stores in low-income neighborhoods.
To reflect the change in the scope of our work the Healthy Corner Store Coalition will now be known as TNDC Healthy Retail SF.
In the coming years we will work hard to convert corner stores into healthy retailers so that all San Franciscans can have access to healthy food.
It is a tremendous responsibility that we are grateful the city of San Francisco has entrusted to us.
